He is all in all Himself, devoid of material conditions.
Whosoever serves Him is honorable,
Nanak, let us, therefore, sing of Him, for He is full of all excellences.
Let us sing and hear His praises and keep them lovingly in our hearts.
We shall thus be freed from pain, and our hearts will be filled with joy.
To us the Guru’s Word is the voice of Yoga, and the Word is the Veda, for it
is inspired by the spirit of God.
God is Shiva; God is Vishnu and Brahma; God is Parvati and Lakshmi.
Even if I knew Him, I could not describe Him, for
He cannot be described in human words.
My Teacher has, however, convinced me of one thing;
That there is but one Benefactor of all creatures; may I never forget Him.
I would bathe at sacred places, if by so doing I could please Him; otherwise,
what is the use of bathing?
How can I please Him by merely bathing, when in the whole wide world that
I see created nothing can be got without exertion?
There, in the mine of my soul, there are so many precious gems and jewels of
faculties waiting development,—only if I hearken to the voice of the Teacher.
The Guru has convinced me of one thing:
That there is but one Benefactor of all creatures; may I never forget Him.
