Online Secret Doctrine Project

https://theosophylib.com/hpb/secretdoctrine.html

This edition includes the following:

  • Updated spelling of all technical terms, names, and foreign language words.
  • Corrected and updated references, given in clearly marked reference notes.
  • Updated grammar, punctuation, capitalization, etc.
  • Updated quotations, as cross-referenced with original sources.
  • Identification of all quotations, updated terms, unknown terms, esoteric source material, etc. by colorized text.

The primary goal is to provide an edition that is up to current scholarly standards and can be easily used by students as well as academics and researchers.

Content Addition Effort

This effort is being done over at our sister-site theosophylib.com, which is dedicated to housing an extensive online theosophical library.

  1. Digitize and consistently format all of Blavatsky’s writings.
(approximately 70% of writings have been uploaded to date)
  2. Digitize primary theosophical periodicals.
(including: Theosophy magazine, The Theosophist and Lucifer (for the time HPB was editor), The Path, Manas Magazine, The Aryan Path, The Theosophical Movement, etc.)
  3. Update, modernize and standardize terminology, grammar, and source referencing to modern academic standards throughout all online writings.
(this is especially important so that the database uses consistent spelling of terms, which makes it possible to implement detailed word searching and research tools)
  4. Develop a searchable online database and concordance.
(similar to digital biblical concordances) for the writings of HPB and WQJ.
