This study class has been running for many years. Originally held in person in Long Beach, California for over a decade, it transitioned to an online format in 2020. Since then, we have continued to meet every Monday at 12:30 PM PST.
Our approach is to take up a text that exemplifies “practical” or “applied” Theosophy and work through it together as a group. We read selected passages, followed by discussion through questions and open dialogue. Past studies have included The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, The Science of Yoga, The Bhagavad Gita, The Voice of the Silence, and The Creative Silence, among others.
All are welcome to join at any time. Sign-up forms can be found on our main Classes page: https://universaltheosophy.com/classes/
This class is currently studying Yoga: The Art of Integration by Rohit Mehta, a thoughtful exploration of the Yoga Sutras of Patañjali approached through a psychological and spiritual lens. Mehta presents yoga as a path of inner transformation—one that seeks the integration of the fragmented elements of the human personality into a unified and harmonious whole. Drawing attention to awareness, self-observation, and the discipline of consciousness, the book examines the deeper meaning of meditation, ethical living, and the stilling of the mind. This study class invites participants to engage these teachings reflectively, exploring how the principles of yoga illuminate the process of self-understanding and the awakening of a more integrated life.
